FAQs

Is it possible to install UnderFence on existing fencing?

While it is easiest to install on new fencing (or when new fabric is being installed on existing fence posts), the majority of UnderFence™ installations are on existing fencing. For installations on existing fencing, we recommend at least a half inch of clearance (from the bottom of the fence to the ground) in order to slide the UnderFence™ panels underneath the fencing and to secure the UnderFence™ panels tight to the fence posts with rivets.

What if my existing fencing is touching or buried in the ground?

If the fencing fabric is just touching the ground, we recommend manually digging out some of the dirt or grass to create the clearance needed to slide the UnderFence™ panels underneath the fencing. We do not recommend installing UnderFence™ if your fencing fabric is buried into the ground.

Where can UnderFence be purchased?

UnderFence™ is a sole source product that is manufactured in the U.S.A and is available for purchase only via direct sales through our company, MacLean Enterprises, LLC, or through contracted fencing companies or other installers.

What does the installation require regarding labor and equipment?

On new fencing, or existing fencing with clearance between the ground and fencing fabric, a crew of four with basic tools (power drills and clamps) would be able to complete installation on 1,000 linear feet in around 2 hours. If a contractor is installing UnderFence™ along with a new fence, they typically charge a minimal fee at the time of the fence installation.

Does UnderFence™ crack or break?

UnderFence™ is made from the same recycled plastic that is used for playground equipment, outdoor furniture, decking, etc. It is eco-friendly, non-toxic, and extremely durable (resistant to weather/UV rays, insects, pests, and moisture/mold). With hundreds of installations since 2008, we have not experienced any cracking or breaking. In the event that UnderFence™ panels would be damaged due to vandalism, they would be easy to replace.

How can I get a sample?

Samples are available on request. Due to shipping costs, we cut the full length panels down from 5.5' L to approx. 1.5' L. So each sample includes two 1.5' L UnderFence™ pieces, and both pieces are notched on one end so that you are able to get an idea of how the UnderFence™ pieces are set/secured tight to the fence posts.
